New TAFE Centre of Excellence for Victoria

On 17 December, the Victorian and Federal Governments announced a $50 million joint development of the Future of Housing Construction Centre of Excellence (FHC CoE) at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Heidelberg campus.

This state-of-the-art facility aims to address critical skills shortages and meet the ambitious target of building 1.2 million new Australian homes by 2029 under the National Housing Accord.

The FHC CoE will provide specialised training in housing construction, ensuring Victoria has a pipeline of skilled workers to meet future demands in the construction sector.

This new centre marks a significant milestone, becoming the first TAFE Centre of Excellence in Victoria and joining a national network of 20 TAFE Centres of Excellence, established to drive innovation and excellence in vocational education and training.
